This patented nanotechnology encourages cellular/tissue integration, while also providing the distinct ability to incorporate drugs, proteins, radiopaque agents, genetic sequences, and other desired agents into our non-degradable or degradable Bio-Spun materials. These nanofibrous materials deliver outcomes that current textile materials and drug delivery devices cannot provide.  We have the flexibility to produce tubular, flat, or unusual shapes with various textures and mechanical properties via rapid prototyping.

Technology Validation

BioSurfaces is equipped to work with any size company, institution or group.  We have worked with several large companies and institutes such as Takeda, the National Institutes of Health and Edwards Lifesciences as well as smaller companies to apply our Bio-Spun™ materials to existing devices or to make new devices that are used to treat gastrointestinal, retinal and cardiac disease.    

Our Bio-Spun™ stand-alone materials and coatings have been shown in various benchtop and preclinical studies to improve healing without sacrificing strength.  The resulting biomaterials and coatings can be made to be as thin as a few microns or as thick as several millimeters.  We also have the ability to incorporate drugs or active agents to provide targeted drug delivery over prolonged periods, even from non-degradable materials.
